MTV Movies Blog: “Brokeback Mountain” stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway may renew their vows again onscreen and indulge in “Love and Other Drugs” for director Ed Zwick (”Defiance”). Don’t led the title lead you to believe that Gyllenhaal and Hathaway are in for a psychedelic head-trip; “Love” is instead a critique of the pharmaceutical industry.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie is based on Jamie Reidy’s humorous memoir, “Hard Sell: The Evolution of a Viagra Salesman.” A salesman for Pfizer in the 1990s, Reidy, who will be played by Gyllenhaal, was the Jerry Maguire of the prescription drug world. As the story goes, he gets involved with a woman suffering from Parkinson’s disease, played by Hathaway. THR says their romance will play out against the “political and social context of the time.”

The project and professional reunion has come at the right time for both actors. Hathaway was briefly attached to Tobey Maguire’s “Tokyo Suckerpunch,” but she couldn’t match her schedule to Maguire’s. Fresh off “Alice in Wonderland,” the Oscar nominee is waiting on “Get Smart 2″ and her Judy Garland biopic “Get Happy.”

Gyllenhaal is in a similar situation, having just finished “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” and “Nailed,” with “Damn Yankees” far down the pre-production line. So, why not get back together and shoot a prescription drug drama this fall? Let’s just hope this romance ends better than the duo’s “Brokeback Mountain” pairing did.
