Jake Gyllenhaal-starring Disney’s “Prince Of Persia” was beaten out by the 4th and final “Shrek” movie.
“Shrek” comes on top of the weekend’s premiere box office with $55.7 million dollars grossed in the opening weekend in the U.S.A., while “Prince Of Persia” comes in at #23 with $37.8 million dollars grossed.
Although the modest opening in the U.S., Overseas, it performed quite good, grossing $95.5 million dollars totalizing $135.5 million dollars grossed worldwide at the cinemas, still at #2 with “Shrek” grossing $172.6 million worldwide.
This weekend’s 3rd. runner-up is “Sex And The City 2″ very close to “Persia” in the U.S. with $37.1 million, worldwide it was modest, with a total of $78.9 million dollars, still ending at #3.

The 29-year-old actor plays the lead in upcoming action movie Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. He had to put on an English accent for the role, and was so keen to give his best performance, he stayed in character from the day shooting began to the day it ended.
“Jake would chat with crew and visitors in a British accent,” a film set source said. “It was funny to hear this American guy talking in an accent when he wasn’t shooting. He took it very seriously.”
Jake bulked up for the film, following a strict diet and exercise regime to make sure he looked good in his skimpy costume. He was so thrilled with the way his torso looked, he spent most of his time walking around with his shirt off.
“It’s a very physical role. He was very proud of the way his body looked. He was constantly shirtless,” the source added.

The actor has stunned fans with his toned physique after working out in preparation for his role in ‘Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time’ – but has warned his supporters that his new shape won’t last long because it was so difficult to achieve.
He said: “I probably put on five pounds of muscle which wasn’t easy. It might look good in the movie but it’s probably going to turn to fat before long.
“I’m going to be fat but I’m going to be happy.”
Jake, 29, recently revealed he is excited about seeing action figure replicas of himself, which will be released around the same time as the action adventure movie.
He said: “A lot of people find it weird to have little action figures of themselves, but I think it’s great.
“In fact it’s awesome! I can’t wait. I’m going to buy loads.”
