Sneak Peeks of “Man VS. Wild” : Jake Gyllenhaal icelandic adventure

Discovery Channel has released two sneak peeks and a new commercial for “MAN vs. WILD” episodes in which Jake Gyllenhaal joins the show presenter Bear Grylls in a “surviving” adventure. From jungles to deserts and from Everest to Antarctica, he travels to places where you couldn’t last a day without the right survival skills. To kick off a run of all-new episodes of MAN VS WILD on Monday, July 11 from 9-10PM ET/PT, Bear brings along a companion – actor Jake Gyllenhaal.

MAN VS WILD will test how Gyllenhaal measures up to unpredictable and unforgiving Mother Nature. For two days, Bear and Jake embark on a survival experience neither will forget, to an Icelandic landscape dominated by mountains, huge glaciers and some of Europe’s most active volcanoes. Jake will have to go where Bear goes, eat whatever Bear eats, and on occasion even take the lead, if he’s going to cope with some of the worst conditions known to man. “For me, it’s all about discovery,” said Gyllenhaal.

Said Bear about the experience, “The wild is always very revealing – not only physically but mentally. You’ve got to smile when it’s driving horizontal hail and be able to face your fears and just get on and do it — and on both of those accounts, Jake came up strong.”

Six new episodes of MAN VS WILD continue Mondays at 9PM ET/PT beginning July 11, with Bear’s adventures taking him to other remote parts of Iceland in blizzard conditions, New Zealand’s South and North Islands, and the Utah badlands. A special compilation episode will mix never-before-seen challenges and behind the scenes from the season.

Jake Gyllenhaal taking legal action over website that leaked fake photo of him in underwear

ContactMusic.com: Jake Gyllenhaal’s lawyers are taking action against website bosses who posted a picture online which appears to depict the star in his underwear.

The photo shows the Brokeback Mountain actor in tight white briefs and socks as he stretches on one leg in a pose resembling Grace Jones’ stance on her Island Life album cover.

Gyllenhaal’s legal team has fired off letters to a number of websites, including Queerty.com and Buzzfeed.com, demanding that the photo is removed.

The star’s attorneys write, “As anybody could tell from a cursory examination, this is a fake picture, in which our client’s head has been pasted on the body of another person”, adding that it portrays him “in a false light, violating his right of publicity and constituting a false designation of origin in violation of the Lanham Act”.

But Gyllenhaal has a fight on his hands – chiefs at Queerty.com are refusing to remove the image until it is proved to be a fake: “We’re keeping the photo up, since it hasn’t been proven fake and because their letter bumped it from ‘funny and cute’ to ‘actually newsworthy.’”

Jake Gyllenhaal joins Mumford & Sons for train tour

FemaleFirst.co.uk: British folk group Mumford and Sons have picked up a star passenger on their train tour of America – celebrity fan Jake Gyllenhaal.

The band is currently in the middle of its six-date Railroad Revival Tour from Oakland, California to New Orleans, Louisiana, which is being filmed for an upcoming documentary, and Gyllenhaal has come along for the ride.

The actor hopped on the vintage train in San Pedro, California and was spotted at Saturday night’s (23 Apr 11) show in Tempe, Arizona and Sunday’s (24 Apr 11) at the band’s railroad tour stop in Marfa, Texas, whose citizens probably would’ve been playing bingo games at the local Amvets if it weren’t for this special event. The event was made even extra special when Mumford and Sons invited a minister onstage to conduct an Easter sermon.

It is not known if Gyllenhaal will be part of the band’s train carriageshow in Austin, Texas on Tuesday (26 Apr 11).

Jake Gyllenhaal Dreads Turning 30 – Sort Of

People Magazine: With only two months to go until he turns 30, Jake Gyllenhaal has mixed emotions about the milestone.

“Look guys, I’m not 30 yet!” Gyllenhaal cracked at Saturday’s New Yorker Festival in Manhattan. “Can you cut it with the 30 comments?”

Deflecting – humorously – any questions about leaving his 20s behind, the Love and Other Drugs star may feel wistful, but he also says he is comfortable with the person he has become.

“I feel more like myself. I feel like now, it’s just the beginning,” he says. “I guess you get to a point at 30 or somewhere and you say, ‘What I am, is what I am and that’s what I’m going to be and that’s all good. I don’t need to be anything else.’ And that’s kind of how I feel.”

One major influence is big sister Maggie Gyllenhaal, 32, who initially sparked Jake’s love of acting. Growing up, the two did a lot of performing when their parents held dinner parties.

“Some of my earliest memories are of my sister coming back from doing a rehearsal for some musical during elementary school,” he says. “I would watch her, and I realized that she got attention that way. I joined her and we would put on shows together and she would always boss me around.”

Typically, Maggie would pull the big-sister card. Recalls Jake, “She would put on a stage performance of Cats, and I would be a lone, poor cat sitting in the corner while my sister performed. I never got to be the star. I did everything wrong according to her.”

Now that both are Oscar-nominated headliners, what would it take for them team on the big screen again, as they did in 2001′s Donnie Darko?

“I love her a lot,” Jake tells PEOPLE, but “we don’t go around looking for something to work on together. I would rather spend time with my niece, [Maggie's daughter Ramona, 4] and spend time as brother and sister.”

Not that the door is completely closed. “It would take something that I love so much … that I would need her to be a part of, and vice versa,” he says.

First look on Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway in “Love and Other Drugs”

Cinema Blend: This weekend pretty much marks the end of the summer movie season, as the last three big movies anyone cares about– Eat Pray Love, The Expendables and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World– hit theaters at last. With the season of explosions and heroes out of the way it’s time to start looking forward to fall, which is when, thank the Lord, the movies generally start getting really, really good. It’s a long way to November 24 but I’ve already got my eye on Love and Other Drugs, a romantic comedy starring Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal and directed by Ed Zwick, whose most recent films were the very much not-romantic comedies Defiance, Blood Diamond and The Last Samurai.

It could be a weird match, sure, but it could also be great, the happy ending you wanted for Gyllenhaal and Hathaway’s characters in Brokeback Mountain with the added benefit of a lot of Viagra jokes (Gyllenhaal’s character is a pharmaceutical salesman). Apparently the first trailer for Love and Other Drugs hits this weekend, and The Playlist picked up on both the first stills from the film in Entertainment Weekly’s fall preview and a brief presentation of the trailer from Entertainment Tonight. You can see all of those things below– the trailer is, in typical ET fashion, overrun by annoying commentary from the hosts, but you can ignore that to see what looks like a pretty well-done dramedy, starring two actors who both do great things when given the chance (i.e. not Prince of Persia and Bride Wars).
