Jake Gyllenhaal has topped a poll of the Hot 100 gay icons.
The 27-year-old actor – who famously starred in a homosexual love scene with Heath Ledger in Brokeback Mountain – came first in the survey of 100,000 people on gay website AfterElton.com, for the second consecutive year.
The website says: “What accounts for Jake’s ongoing appeal to gay men? His doe-eyed, boy next door (yet somehow smouldering) looks certainly don’t hurt, but we suspect what really makes gay men go for him is that he doesn’t have an issue going for us.
“Jake has done as much as any actor to show straight guys there isn’t a good reason to be afraid of gay guys or gay roles.â€
Jake beat Torchwood star John Barrowman and Brothers and Sisters actor Luke McFarlane to the top spot.
Closet chef JAKE GYLLENHAAL is developing a new organic restaurant venture with top cook CHRIS FISCHER.
Sources claim the movie star once promised himself he’d open a top-end eatery if his acting career took off by the time he was 30. He’s 27. And Gyllenhaal, who has made regular appearances on top chef Mario Batali’s hit U.S. cookery show Molto Mario, is getting serious about cooking up a restaurant.
A pals tells America’s Life + Style magazine that Gyllenhaal and pal Fischer are looking at real estate in Los Angeles - with a view to opening their own place.
The insider says, “Cooking is his (Gyllenhaal) big hobby and his passion.” Reports suggest Gyllenhaal is even planning a summer vacation cycling tour of food-lovers mecca Tuscany, Italy with his girlfriend Reese Witherspoon - to seek inspiration for his new restaurant.
He’ll be the latest in a long line of Hollywood stars who have opened restaurants - Morgan Freeman, Sandra Bullock, Jeri Ryan, Ashton Kutcher and Tara Reid are just some of the celebrities who have tasted success as restaurateurs. [NY Daily News]

According to Quad Cities Online, “The River Valley Library, 214 S. Main St., Port Byron, is hosting
its annual silent auction of celebrity autographs until 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10.
The library is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday for bidding.
Proceeds will go the library building fund.
